Just Where Do You Think You've Been - Paul Powell
Paul Powell was the leader of a four-man climbing party marooned by impossible weather for nine days in a snowcave near Mt Aspiring. On the last day they were dramatically flown out to Wanaka by Don Middleton of Mount Cook Airlines.
Using the hut, tent, bivvy rock, or snowcave as the focal point in each climbing study, the author begins at his pre-war Tararua climbs and takes us on into the headwaters of the Rakaia, to Arthur's Pass, to the Remarkables, the Milford Sound peaks, the Aspiring Country, to mountains overseas - ending nostalgically when, with his son, he revisits the Ruth Flat rock bivvy which he had found in 1947, twenty years and more before.
