The Pohutukawa Tree - Bruce Mason
NZ$19.00
Set in 1947, The Pōhutukawa Tree follows Aroha Mataira, a proud Māori widow and elder who refuses to leave her ancestral land at Te Parenga. The play explores cultural and generational conflict, particularly Aroha’s struggle between Māori heritage and strict Pākehā Christianity, while tensions with neighbouring landowners and her rebellious children challenge her beliefs and expectations.
